QUY NHON EXPECTS TO BECOME AN INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY RESEARCH CENTER

Converging leading domestic and international scientific researchers with the synergistic resources of enterprises, Quy Nhon has many favorable conditions to move towards the vision of becoming an international science and technology research center.

Currently, the coastal city has formed many research units such as Quy Nhon International Center for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), Center for Scientific Discovery and Innovation, TMA Creative Park... ICISE alone has welcomed more than 5,000 world-famous scientists to research and exchange expertise, including many Nobel laureates.

With the orientation of the local government, the participation of a series of major domestic and international enterprises and scientific experts, Quy Nhon is expected to become a scientific and technological research center at the world level.

Realizing the vision of an international scientific research center

Dr. Nguyen Huu Le - General Director of TMA Solutions Company highly appreciated Quy Nhon's position in developing into a scientific and technological research center of regional and world stature. Taking advantage of the strength of the quality of human resources in mathematics to research and apply new technologies is increasingly important and necessary.

TMA Solutions has combined with Quy Nhon University's Department of Mathematics and Statistics to receive students for internship, then becoming key employees in the company. In addition, this company cooperates with many universities in the Central region to deploy a series of training programs for thousands of students, aiming at high-quality human resources to meet the high development trend in the future.

During a visit and working in Binh Dinh on April 2, Professor Ngo Bao Chau - Scientific Director of the Vietnam Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM) said that Quy Nhon converged many favorable conditions for scientific research development, especially applied mathematics. This is also one of the three national key math training and research centers. It is expected that in the near future, VIASM and Hung Thinh Corporation as well as many other partners will promote the realization of the vision of turning Quy Nhon into an international science center, developing the future generation of scientists.

Upholding the philosophy of real education, real talent and community service, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Trung - Chairman of Hung Thinh Corporation said that the Corporation is always ready, proactive and wishes to have a closer connection between the community, enterprises and scientists.

"We look forward to contributing and accompanying to apply knowledge into life, contributing to more investment in the future generation of intellectuals of the country, creating qualified human resources for development," said by Mr. Nguyen. Dinh Trung shared.

Building high-quality resources

Most recently, on April 3, the Math Open Day 2022 (MOD 2022) was organized by VIASM in collaboration with Department of Education and Training of Binh Dinh province and Quy Nhon University.

Dr. Le Minh Ha - CEO of VIASM said that MOD 2022 is the highlight in the implementation of the national key program on Mathematics for 2021-2030 period that has been approved by the Government. In which, the important mission is to build the Department of Mathematics and Statistics of Quy Nhon University to become one of the three mathematical centers of the region and play a pivotal role in the research, application and promotion of Mathematics.

Dr. Le Minh Ha acknowledged that the connectivity of MOD 2022 is also clearly expressed through the appearance of Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam National University - Hanoi and many enterprises such as Hung Thinh Corporation, TMA Solutions, FPT...

"This creates a coherence between schools, enterprises, scientists and enterprises towards the common goal of developing mathematics, applying mathematics and science in general," said by Dr. Le Minh Ha.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Do Ngoc My - Rector of Quy Nhon University considers this as a way for mathematics to overcome prejudice that are dry and difficult to access because of its lack of attractiveness. Besides, Mathematics will contribute to solving practical problems at both macro and micro levels, linking scientific fields, creating a bridge to solve human resource problem for localities and enterprises.

In addition, the school also connects with enterprises to participate in training and research activities at undergraduate and graduate levels, in line with actual human resource needs, especially applying mathematics into practice, solving specific challenges and problems in life.

"With the strength in pedagogical training and basic sciences, Quy Nhon University aims to achieve sustainable development. Exploiting the connection of basic sciences such as mathematics will create a good application foundation for a series of fields such as digital transformation, information technology, data science, artificial intelligence...", Assoc. With the determination of the local government, Quy Nhon has been gathering the synergistic resources of major enterprises such as Hung Thinh Corporation, FPT, TMA Corporation... and the participation of domestical and international leading industry experts and scientists. The coastal city not only possesses the potential to become a leading destination in Asia but also expects to become a scientific center of the world.

With the same purpose of contributing to investment in the future generation of scientists, Hung Thinh Corporation cooperated with Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon University to award 16 scholarships under the program of "Incubating talents of Mathematics and artificial intelligence" for students who are good at Math. Each scholarship is valued VND 20 million.

This program is an initiative of Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh City and Hung Thinh Corporation to encourage and nurture young talents of Mathematics and artificial intelligence in Vietnam, implemented in 5 years from 2022 to the end of 2026 with an estimated budget of VND 5 billion per year.
