Vietnamese women's football team successfully defends SEA Games football gold medal after dramatic final match with Thailand and receives a reward of VND 1 billion from Hung Thinh Corporation.
Entering the final of SEA Games 30 women's football on 8/12 evening against the rival that was more highly appreciated, Vietnamese girls did not hesitate to push the attacking squad immediately after the opening whistle. A goal was almost made for the girls in red after a shot hitting the crossbar of Nguyen Thi Van in the 6th minute.
Witnessing the Thai players playing inferiorly, Thai women’s football team's coach launched the star Taneekarn to the playing pitch. The appearance of this midfielder with remarkable body shape helped Thai girls regain the game.
The rival made many lines of hanging the ball and long-distance shots but failed to beat the defenses of Vietnamese women's team with high focus. The first half ended without any goal being scored.

Thai team was loyal to play with the style of forward and header in the second half. In 57th minute, Taneekarn Dangda put the ball into Kim Thanh goalkeeper’s net but the goal was not recognized due to offside. After escaping from a losing goal, Vietnamese women's team reshaped the squad and did not allow the rival to have any gap to shoot.
Having a draw result 0-0 after 90 minutes, the girls had to enter the extra time to determine the winner. In 92nd minute, the Vietnamese women's team suddenly scored a goal after a fixed ball line.
The match ended with a 1-0 victory for team and Coach Mai Duc Chung. Vietnamese women’s football team officially successfully defended the SEA Games football gold medal.
After the final match, Hung Thinh Corporation will award VND 1 billion to the team and coach Mai Duc Chung as previously committed.
